If you have not yet had the chance
to pick up a copy of Jim Collins’ book: How The Mighty Fall, I highly recommend this book. As always, Collins has researched companies that were once great and studied their decline. There are 5 stages in the downward spiral, and leaders can learn a great deal by noticing the stages. As Collins points out, it is much easier to turn a company around in the early stages of the decline.

‘How the mighty Fall’ is a great book, but it would have been nice to compare the recent research with some civilisations that also fell. My question is: that if there is plenty of information from history on collapses, why does it keep happening? The real question that needs to be looked at is- how do people learn about this topic in a way it has enough impact for them to act? So to help people really experience what happens in ‘a fall’, in a safe environment, we designed a simulation based around Angok Wat (What Happened to WAT). We feel it’s important to teach these issues in a way that people will feel free to discuss this difficult topic in a way that is far enough way to not touch any raw nerves. We have also video interviewed forensic & insolvency accountants, to help people prevent & recover from a collapse or crash.
