Uniliver, Duran Duran and the Pussycat Dolls Speak to Gen Y

Print Friendly

Women around the world are being called to “unleash the spirit of Brazil on their skin” in the new advertising campaign for Caress by Unilever.  The company has remade the Duran Duran song “Rio” using Nicole of the Pussycat Dolls (who by the way is everywhere right now) to try and target a much younger audience.  But…there’s a bit of an issue.

Greenpeace has just published a report called “Burning Up Borneo,” blasting the company for its palm oil policy.   And…we know how Gen Y feels about stripping resources from the environment.  So…time will tell if the campaign works.

Just another example of what companies are doing to reach our largest buying demographic in the world right now…72 million consumers strong.

For those of you who have no idea who Duran Duran is, here is the video of “Rio”.
